The second edition of the Pe'ahi Challenge on Friday became another instant classic of the Big Wave Tour. With swell building throughout the day there was no shortage of incredible drops, giant tubes, and harrowing wipeouts. There was a good chunk of history made too, with Maui locals Billy Kemper and Paige Alms taking the top spots. For Kemper, it was his second straight victory at Pe'ahi, and it was hard fought. For Alms, it was the culmination of a longtime dream, as the women of big-wave surfing finally got an event of their own.
