Josh Kerr is one of the world's best surfers. He's also an enthusiastic family man. With his non-stop travel schedule those two roles aren't always aligned. Fortunately for Josh, however, times are changing. His kids have reached their adventurous wonder years. Not only are they old enough to handle real travel, they're just as surf stoked as he is, so Kerrzy's surf vacations are now full-blown family affairs.
Earlier this year, between the Fiji Pro and J-Bay Open, Josh and his family traveled to the Kandui Villas in the Mentawais, one of Indo's most idyllic surf locales. "It was an amazing trip with a bunch of friends," Josh explained. "We had the full insta-crowd, with 10 groms and six adults paddling out."
Josh quickly found his groove. He spent most of his mornings with the groms, leading them to good takeoff spots and ushering them into set waves. But of course he got his share. "When the waves were good I would head to a special bit of reef that I had to myself," he laughs. "Most of this clip I was lucky enough to be surfing solo...I got pretty sunburnt on this trip."
