Ethan Ewing is not used to losing. He hates it. And during the 2016 season it was something he wasn't at all familiar with. After all, he blitzed through the Australian Pro Junior series and clinched a World Junior Championship. At 17, he even finished No. 2 on the Qualifying Series, qualifying for the Championship Tour in his first attempt. He even earned Rookie of the Year honors at the Vans Triple Crown.
But on the Championship Tour, every single heat is a heavy one. Nobody at this level rolls over. Ewing lost a close heat with California's Conner Coffin in Round Two. But once again, the kid went down swinging, bagging another excellent range score during his loss. His surfing is there. The rest is yet to come.
