Just three heats ran Thursday morning at the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais, but each matchup carried significant weight for the surfers left in the event. Three of them -- Kanoa Igarashi, Italo Ferreira and Ezekiel Lau -- could use some Qualifying Series points to keep their spots on the elite tour in 2018. The fourth, Cascais native Frederico Morais, is safe for next season, but had a huge hometown crowd (and the pressure that came with it) assembled to see him win. In the end, though, the morning belonged to Lau, the Hawaiian CT rookie, who was simply on fire from start to finish. He took down Ferreira in a well-matched Final. In the Post Show wrap-up from Praia do Guincho, catch up on all the action with Kaipo Guerrero, Strider Wasilewski and Gigs Celliers.
